In PUMA 2025, the city speaks. It remembers, resists, expands. This performance embodies Cusco as a living, breathing PUMA, its ancient pre-Hispanic shape still imprinted on the land, now stretched and reshaped by time. At its core lies ”Hawkaypata”, the main square of Cusco and the stomach of the PUMA. A space swollen with memory, tradition, and contradiction. In the stomach of this still and unmoving city, Santurantikuy unfolds. Originally established in the 16th century by the Catholic Church to replace Andean beliefs with Christian icons, the fair has resisted full colonization. Today, it is a site of friction and coexistence: where nativity figures and saints are sold beside Andean symbols, mass-produced trinkets, and sacred remnants; where belief systems merge, clash, and survive in commerce. With this abstract appropriation, I aim to bring forth and remember the fragmented relationships between Andean beliefs and globalization through a bodily vocabulary. What stays in the stomach when the body is stretched but still breathing?

This is a project of visual research inspired by «leftovers, and waste of fast food. I wanted to use a public cultural reference, an empty and already consumed object not available to sell anymore. To this scenario, I engage the body, my body that will loses his identity and becomes a rejected article.

Film and Performance project directed by Benjamin Loyauté, 2022.
Defined by the poetry of the ordinary, the work of Benjamin Loyauté depends on the activation of his works, the mutual coupling of sculpture and performance in order to exist. Here, the performance potential is marked by the physical presence of a sculptural circular base, which itself can only be read as such through the implicit presence of the objects that complete it or of an interpreter performer who could stand on it. Rather than thinking of sculpture and performance as diametrically opposed, Loyauté imagines them as “actants” that come together to form a living and dynamic whole that invites experience and engagement. The Melody of Speech relocates our atention and imagines a dubplate, a psalm that is both frank and poetic sometimes delivered at light speed, oen mixed with punk surrealism and invisible street music, chiseled like his sculptures of meditations composed of signs, traces of birds or sacred germinations. This rope position represents a building or a space that can be habitable. This space offers tree surfaces and in each of them the options of transition, depends of the ground. With this rope installation and highway sound effects, I wanted to recreate a house under, a sort of shelter that is common to find in big cities. For recreating this space I also got interested in hostile architecture, but this part still in work in progress.
